Abstract

Emigration from Greece has been an age-old phenomenon. Drawn by better opportunities abroad and limited by the existing resources at home, Greeks have over the years scattered throughout the world either as tradesmen, or restaurant owners, as industry workers or shipowners. It has been said that Greece’s comparative advantage lies ‘in exporting its people’.
