Abstract
From the days of the marches by civil rights activists at Newry on 5 October 1968 and Londonderry’s Apprentice Boys on 12 August 1969 the ITV company in Northern Ireland was living — in terms of politics, religion and security — in a very different world from that of any other contractor in Independent Television.
