Abstract
Several aspects of the handling of adverse drug reaction (ADR) data and adverse event data are discussed in this chapter, including the sources of data, form design, computerisation and analysis of data. The published literature as a source of information about ADRs is also critically evaluated and the limitations of some literature-searching methods are identified. Coding systems for adverse events, diseases and drugs are also reviewed. The application of computer systems is discussed from the user’s view.
