Work Out Electromagnetic Fields

Part of the book series: Macmillan Work Out Series ((MCWO))

Abstract

Two small sphere-like charged particles q1, q2 (whose radii are very small compared with the distance between them) are immersed in an insulating medium of permittivity ϵ. The magnitude of the force of reaction between them is given by

$$\bar F = \frac{{{q_1}}}{{4\pi }}x\frac{{{q_2}}}{{ \in {d^2}}}N$$

where d is the distance between the particles.
