Abstract

Both practice and theoretical thinking in the German Democratic Republic in the past 5 years were directed, and will continue to be directed, to implementing the central strategy of combining economic and social policies. Therefore the economy, particularly the rapid development of all productive forces with recourse to advanced science and technology, plays a key role in the overall social strategy, which is geared to preserving and further improving material living standards.
