Abstract
Honduras, with a little more than 112000 square kilometres, was a single diocese up to 1916. But even when other dioceses were created, many of the sees were left vacant. When bishops were appointed, those chosen were often not the most suitable. This is explained by State interferences, the intervention of nuncios and the lack of good candidates.
