Abstract
Towards the end of 1983 Brazil announced that it had built its ‘one millionth alcohol car’ and celebrated the event by a special show. Over 85 per cent of cars sold last year in Brazil were alcohol-powered cars, and ANFAVEA (The Brazilian National Association of Automobile Manufacturers) estimate that 5 million alcohol cars will be sold by 1990, depending on the world’s oil situation.
