Abstract

Until 1991, the coursework element of the GCSE will not be compulsory. Some candidates, however, will be required to offer coursework, and it is important that you acquaint yourself fully with what is required. You will be asked to carry out a certain number of tasks (depending on which examination board you are taking); some will be quite short, others will be extended over a few weeks. Your work will then be marked according to a fixed scheme, again depending on the examination board you are taking. The sort of areas for which marks will be awarded are summarised in the table.
