Abstract
How old does one have to be to be classed as jeune? The term les jeunes usually implies teenagers, but ‘young’ is a rather flexible word. Certainly, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote his little book Le Petit Prince for children of all ages, or for those who are young in heart. Its rather zany humour and its charm come through in the passage reprinted here. The second passage is more specifically concerned with the usual meaning of les jeunes, and looks at some of the attitudes of young people. The dialogue has two young people discussing the future.
