Abstract
Faulty grammar in your written English will cost you marks. This chapter will help you to reach the grammatical standard required by the examiners. (You must also work through the follow-up exercises in Chapter 11.) It sets out the basic grammar that all candidates are expected both to know and to be able to make use of when writing. Then it lists and gives examples of all the common mistakes, supplying the corrections needed to turn them into good English. It is not a complete account of English grammar. Much information that would appear in a full study of the subject is deliberately omitted. It concentrates on the grammatical points that you can put to use to avoid some very common errors.
