Any organisation needs to utilise as much of the information at its disposal as it can, and to use that information effectively to aid decision-making. In the seventeenth century the philosopher Francis Bacon coined the saying ‘Knowledge is Power’. In the late twentieth century this could be rephrased as ‘Information is Power’.
