Abstract
In this century’s economic literature it is possible to find several attempts to recognise the relevance of monetary factors in the determination of all economic variables. Sraffa’s suggestion that the rate of profits should be determined outside the system of production, and in particular by the level of the money interest rates, is in accord with this line of thought. It wants to recognise the role of monetary factors in the analysis of distribution and price formation.
