Abstract

In this country, women’s patterns of work have changed in the past twenty-five years. More women work and there are better facilities for continuing a career whilst raising a family. Five million of the nine and half million women in employment are aged between sixteen and forty-four. Over a quarter of mothers of children under five are in part-time or full-time work. More women with children of any age are returning to work.
