Abstract

The empirical analysis begins with a presentation of some simple descriptive statistics which relate the three dependent variables to the two IMF categorical dummy variables, which are

  1. (1)

    presence or absence of an IMF stand-by arrangement; and

  2. (2)

    total number of IMF stand-by programs experienced.
