Capital Accumulation and Revolutionary Nationalism in Bolivia, 1952–85

  • Chapter
The State and Capital Accumulation in Latin America

Part of the book series: Latin American Studies Series ((LASS))

Abstract

The history of capital accumulation and state intervention in Bolivia is intimately connected with the avatars of the revolutionary nationalist (RN) ideology that emerged in the 1930s. RN has become an anti-oligarchical ideology of the dominated sector, the official ideology of the Bolivian state after 1952, and stands at the heart of the rationale of the authoritarian military regimes in power from 1964 onwards.
