Abstract
This Unit is concerned with the child who has difficulties of pronunciation and articulation. If you are concerned about difficulties in his use or acquisition of other language skills you should refer to the Unit LANGUAGE (Main Unit). If you are concerned about a child’s lack of speech, i.e. he rarely speaks or will not speak to anyone except members of his family and/or close friends, you should refer to the Unit NON-SPEAKING. Finally this Unit assumes that the child about whom you are concerned has normal hearing. If you are unsure about this you should refer to the Unit HEARING IMPAIRED and particularly to the section ‘Indications of a Hearing Loss’.
