Abstract

The subject of infantile autism has attracted a great deal of public and expert attention since it was first recognised as a clinical syndrome in 1943. Research and opinion on the subject have been published on a large scale, much of it conflicting and much of it of little use to a teacher confronted with a child whom she may consider as autistic. This Unit, therefore, is intended to offer some guidance to the teacher who is confronted with a child she considers may be autistic.
