The Child Who Calls Out

Abstract

This Unit is concerned with those children who frequently call out in response to teachers’ questions or during periods of classroom quiet. It does not refer to those children who frequently interrupt (or butt into) activities in which they should be listening rather than talking (e.g., story time) or in which they should provide others with the opportunity to speak without being constantly interrupted (e.g., class discussions and conversations with others). This latter group of children are considered in the Unit INTERRUPTS.
