Abstract
The plot of the Knight’s Tale concerns the love of Palamon and Arcite, two young Thebans, for Emily, the sister-in-law of their victorious enemy, Theseus, ruler of Athens. The young men fall in love with Emily when they catch sight of her from the window of the prison to which Theseus has consigned them for life after the destruction of Thebes. Their love for her dominates the action of the rest of the tale.
