Abstract
The following example shows how to analyse a selected passage from the play. The extract is from Act I, Sequence 9. In some ways it is untypical of the play because the action takes place on one of the few occasions when Willy is off-stage. This fact in itself makes it interesting. Read the passage through carefully, making your own notes as you go before you refer to the Commentary.
