Introduction and Summary
The theme of the conference from which these papers were taken was the future prospects for the international gas market. Since the conference was held shortly after the decision of the UK government to block the British Gas Corporation’s decision to buy Norwegian gas from the Sleipner field, inevitably the orientation of the papers and the subsequent discussion was very much centred on two topics. The first was the advisability and implications of the Sleipner decision. The second was the future supply and demand balance in the European context.
