Abstract
Hardware represents the most visible and usually the most expensive component of any data processing system. There is no facet of modern computer operations that is not in some way affected by the nature of the hardware used to support those operations, either directly or indirectly. Today, as the quality of highly specialised software for business and educational applications continues to grow, the quality of the physical devices used to adapt such software to modern problem-solving methodologies is becoming a vital consideration that cannot be underestimated in the proper designing and implementation of new data processing environments.
