Abstract
Over the period 1974–83, the population of West Germany has declined by 631,000, representing a percentage fall of 1.0. Both male and female populations have fallen by approximately the same margin and the 1983 total of 61,423,000 people shows 52.2 per cent females and 47.8 per cent males (Table 5.1).
