Abstract

Somehow it seems that what ever you plan in life turns out a different way. Maybe it was in the cards, but I quit Duke’s band in Los Angeles and my wife was from there. I loved the climate and so we decided to make LA our permanent home. Dottie took a job at Northrup Aircraft and I had some money saved. I was tired of playing clarinet every night and of traveling and I just wanted to rest from it all for a while to see how things would work out. I didn’t have to wait long to find out.
