Abstract
Quantitative analysis of the morphofunctional characteristics of neuronal networks is now possible using semiautomatic and automatic image analyzers. In the present paper we describe this quantitative approach with special reference to the software package developed on an assembled image analyzer based on a stand alone general purpose microcomputer. The hardware configuration is shown together with the basic and specific software used for receptor autoradiographic and morphometric analysis of transmitter-identified neurons.
