Summary
Computer simulation is increasingly being used as a tool for the design and day-to-day operation of manufacturing systems. A wide variety of simulation tools is currently available. Until recently a vast majority of the manufacturing simulation studies were based on the use of high level languages or simulation programming languages. Interactive computer simulators which do not require any detailed knowledge of computing or programming simplify the process of model development. This paper describes the design and implementation of an interactive manufacturing planning simulator (IMPS) which can be used easily by manufacturing managers. No prior knowledge of computing techniques is assumed.
