Abstract
The research literature of biotechnology is a daunting mass — tens of thousands of papers spread over hundreds of journals published all over the world. This situation cannot really be altered or improved by the brief overview provided by this chapter; the sheer mass of publications is too great. However, some general guidelines which may make these papers more accessible can be given. Secondary sources and online databases (discussed in Chapters 7 and 8) can assist and, of course, review articles and some books (discussed in Chapter 3) can also help the reader in locating periodical articles.
