Abstract
Biotechnology is not an easy topic for information gathering. As noted in Chapter 1, the subject is elusive and wide ranging. It can be daunting, if not overwhelming, to the librarian, business executive or teacher who has a limited technical background. Even for research scientists in biotechnology, getting the information they need when they need it and at an affordable price is a constant challenge. It can be stated with certainty that many research hours are wasted every year both in companies and academic laboratories because the right information is not available at the right time.
