Abstract
The double bill of Calvary and The Resurrection at the Peacock Theatre in September must count as one of the high experimental moments in the stage history of Yeats’s plays. Remarkably, Calvary had not been played in Dublin before; an odd fact that added to the excitement of seeing these new productions by Raymond Yeates, a director already known for his inventive approach to Yeats’s drama.
