Abstract
Clone 707 of the Friend mouse leukaemia cell line (Scher et al., 1971) has been shown to have a high spontaneous mutation rate at the thymidine kinase locus (McKenna and Hickey, 1981a). Deficiency of thymidine kinase in subclones of 707 has been observed to result in increased sensitivity to killing and mutagenesis by UV irradiation (McKenna and Hickey, 1981b) and by chemical mutagens (McKenna and Yasseen, 1982). The present communication describes the mutagenic effects of 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene (DAB) and Sample B of 4-cyano-dimethylaniline (CDA) in the thymidine kinase-deficient Friend cell clone, 7O7BUF. The marker used for measurements of mutant induction was 6-thioguanine (6-TG) resistance.
