Abstract

All those about to begin study for examinations in Office Practice, Secretarial Duties, Clerical Duties or other related subjects should be familiar with the terms used to describe an office and its functions. The function of ‘offices’, whatever they may be, should be seen as part of the whole commercial process. ‘That group of activities concerned with getting goods from those who first produce them to those who finally consume (use) them.’ A chain of production often suggests points at which the office function may take place (see Figure 1.1).
