Abstract
It was in early 1933 that two of AB’s young men, Charles Fenn and Jeff Collins, staged the nearest approach to a successful revolt that ever took place in the Besse office. AB went off for a tour of his African agencies. Before leaving he told Collins to buy a dhow that was coming on the market, and named the price. There was unexpected competition and Collins had to go above the figure given: to miss the dhow would have been thought a major calamity. The deal was reported by letter to AB.
