Convergence in segmental reflex pathways from group II muscle afferents to α-motoneurones

  • Chapter
The Muscle Spindle

Abstract

The role of group II muscle afferents in motor regulation has been underemphasized and controversially discussed for a long time (cf. Matthews 1972). The experimental data obtained on the synaptic linkage and the convergence in the reflex pathways from group II muscle afferents to α-motoneurones during the recent years may form a basis for an advanced interpretation of their function in spinal motor control.
