The Second Phase 1962-5: Soviet Policy of Compromise with Egypt

Abstract

Irrespective of whether the world system can be characterised as bipolar or multi-polar, each individual state — and in particular the great powers — responds to the actions of others according to a complex process involving an analysis of the other’s global activities. For the global powers the world is too complex to be evaluated in terms of a single combination of factors; account has to be taken of the way in which an event in one part of the globe can cause chain reactions in different ways in widely separate areas.
