Abstract

In the summer of 1903 Grainger returned briefly to Germany: from 22 June to 16 July he took piano lessons with the great Italian virtuoso Ferruccio Busoni (1866–1924) in Berlin. The invitation to study with Busoni had followed his meeting with Grainger in London in the preceding February.
