Abstract
Haloperidol (HAL) blocks dopamine (CA) receptors. This activity at pituitary DA receptors elicits an elevation in prolactin (PRL) secretion and synthesis, while at striatal DA receptors after long-term administration it produces an increased density. These two actions had been assumed to be unrelated.
