The circuits of chapters 3 and 4 form the basis of an audio amplifier system as outlined in figure 2.1. The choice of circuit depends on the application — a simple intercom, baby alarm or for filling a large concert hall, for amplifying microphone signals or synthesiser sounds (chaptér 5), or merely for the enjoyment of constructing the circuits and investigating their properties. This chapter uses the data collected from chapter 1 and applies them to the design aspects of the amplifiers to be found in the following chapters.
