Abstract
Schumann’s Stores sell almost everything — from ballpoint pens to bedroom furniture. They have branches all over the south of England. The firm appreciates the need to develop young talent and have devised a comprehensive management training scheme for graduates joining the company. One of the first young men to be trained under this scheme was Peter Shafer, who joined Schumann’s four years ago after taking a business degree at a polytechnic. He has had a spell of six months as Assistant Manager at the Exeter branch and he has now been appointed manager-designate of the Bournemouth store, to take over when the present Manager, Tom Selhurst, retires next month.
