Behavioural Aspects of Operational Control

  • Chapter
Developing Managerial Information Systems

Abstract

Operation controls relate to tasks or transactions. The primary focus of operational control is usually on economic efficiency. In Chapter 4 we discussed the characteristics of operational control. These characteristics are mainly associated with the tasks and their nature. In this chapter we are concerned with the performance of the tasks. The effectiveness and efficiency of controls in the final analysis depend on their being enacted by people.
