Abstract
You will know that all information stored in, or used by, a computer is in the form of ‘bits’ — short for binary integers. These bits take the form of 1s or Os, and a combination of a number — usually eight — of these makes up every character or symbol or instruction which the computer or word processor needs to do its job. These strings of bits are known as ‘bytes’.
