Abstract
The examples used in this chapter are based upon Designed and Detailed by J.B. Higgins and M.R. Hollington, published by the Cement and Concrete Association. Reference to that publication will enable the reader with some knowledge of structural mechanics to discover how the structure was designed using the limit state principles of CP 110, the code of practice for the structural use of concrete.
