Abstract
The design and detailing of reinforced concrete is made more difficult by the existence of two British Standard Codes of Practice, either of which is acceptable. CP 114: part 2: 1969 was a revision of the original code, published in 1948, to take account of metrication. CP 110: part 1: 1972 is intended, ultimately, to replace three codes of practice — CP 114, CP 115 and CP 116 — dealing with reinforced, prestressed and precast concrete respectively.
