Abstract

Philippine pre-history began as long ago as 500 000 years in a period characterized by the enlargement of the ice caps in the polar region and of the glaciers in the mountainous areas. As they grew larger the sea level went down and, as a consequence, a vast area of land was exposed, forming land bridges to the mainland of Asia. Primitive man arrived in the Philippines during this period.
