Abstract

Pedigree Petfoods is wholly-owned by Mars Inc., one of the largest private corporations in the world. As a deliberate policy, the operating units of the Mars Corporation throughout the world enjoy individual autonomy, and the headquarters staff, at McLean, Virginia, is remarkably small — less than half of one per cent of total employees.
