Abstract
The design problems when recording a television picture on tape are far greater than those in an audio system. The problems are caused by the type of information which has to be recorded:
-
The video information.
A standard audio system has a maximum signal bandwidth of about 15kHz. A television signal requires a video bandwidth of up to 5.5MHz.
As well as the picture information, line and field sync pulses must be recorded.
-
The audio system is still required.
-
For reasons which will be described, more than one motor is used in a video recorder.
