Abstract

Very seldom these days do we see buildings being erected that require the types of roof trusses seen in figures 10.1–10.6. These types of trusses were used extensively many years ago in buildings of character. Regular inspection of these buildings now often shows the trusses are being attacked by pests or the growth of some form of fungus. This is why these trusses are included here, since carpenters may be required to repair the damage found, and therefore they need to know how the trusses are constructed so that new parts can be incorporated into the work in an efficient manner.
