Abstract
This chapter considers two discrete distributions that are formulas constructed purely from theory. Each distribution represents a random process operating in a strictly defined manner, chosen to be as simple and as general as possible so that each distribution models a wide variety of real world phenomena. Many other discrete distributions have been constructed, but the two discussed here have proved particularly useful.
