The pitch-pellet sticking method described in chapter 1 is best adapted to the manufacture of small batches of components, because the inconveniences involved in the method are compensated by the low cost of the tooling; this low cost arises from the adaptability of a single set of shells and block holders for lens components of different shapes and sizes.
