Abstract

The essential property that a lubricating grease must possess is the ability to form a film between surfaces so that surface-to-surface contact is prevented[1]. This film may be quite thick as shown in figure 11.1, where grease is being used as a launching lubricant, or it may be very thin as in anti-friction bearings.
