Abstract

There is a fundamental difference between reporting violent incidents and screening television interviews with the terrorists themselves. Terrorists use armed propaganda to seize the attention of the public and the ethics of giving them the publicity they seek by reporting such violent incidents were discussed in the previous chapter. At the same time terrorists or their supporters will seek every opportunity to put their case directly on television in interviews, possibly back-to-camera, and this chapter is concerned with the wisdom, ethics and legality of giving them such opportunities.
